It's an unhealthy lifestyle, and it seems to be a thing among fundies.

The best thing I can think to do, is to hope that some of those kids may yet get out, get an education, and get to make up their own mind(s) about things. We know it's happened in, e.g., Fred Phelps' family. One can only hope.

As for Hovind the Lesser, it's the back o' me hand to 'im, as my Irish ancestors would have said.

As much as I hope some of those kids do get out I'm afraid it is unlikely to be the girls. The whole cult revolves pawning the daughters off to a husband as soon as possible, a husband they must serve and who will reinforce the cult dogma. Maybe if one is lucky enough to end up with a husband who wants out of the cult himself they might escape, otherwise I think the family pressure, indoctrination, and fear of exile will keep the girls in bondage. The boys are also heavily indoctrinated and have the same pressure but are also not raised with as much an emphasis on being submissive. If one is gay or has an equally compelling reason to leave the cult he might find the courage to do so.
I like a little rebellion now and then.
