Most of you can guess my opinion on the matter.

To qualify my opinion a bit: I'm not "absolutely certain" that Sye is dishonest, because dishonesty is a multidimensional sliding scale, and there's no point in the continuum that you can draw a hard and fast line between dishonesty and honesty. Actually, it's pretty much the same reasoning that leads me to reject Sye's TAG argument: it presumes that lines between words must also be lines in the world. This presumption is not always borne out in reality.

He's had this pointed out time and again, and he has never once admitted fault or rethought any part of his argument. He always responds with the philosophical equivilent of "I know you are, but what am I?"

He knows he's not playing by the rules: he even advertises his argument that way, as 'not giving the atheists what they want'. As far as I'm concerned, that makes him dishonest: whether or not he's convinced himself he's winning, he still knows still cheating in order to win.

It's that whole "Liars for Jesus". They feel justified as long as it is for the greater good, e.i. Jesus, and that they are ultimately right, regardless of the particulars. At least Eric thinks he might convert someone. What is so pernicious about Sye is that he doesn't care if he converts or saves anyone. He's a Calvinist. All that shit is decided. He just wants to brag. His presup argument, combined with his heads I win tales you lose/I know you are but what am I argument style just confirms to himself that he is "correct." He doesn't care about the dishonest parts of his argument.
