The middle-aged Oakland resident said he'd been listening to Camping since 1993, when he said the world would end in 1994.
That was strike one, the man said. And this is strike two. Even so, he said, that doesn't mean the message is wrong.
"I just know he's biblically sound," the man said. "I've never been one of these guys who think everything he says is true.
There's no doubt (in my mind) that Camping's little christian cult will survive. Sometimes you just can't cure stupid.
Hey, everyone should get three strikes. It's the law, isn't it?

Guess what Camping is now saying:
Camping's revised prediction for 2011
On May 23, 2011, Harold Camping issued a statement that his prophecy had been off by five months. He now claims Judgment Day will come October 21, 2011, the date he had earlier predicted for the destruction of the world.[69] Camping said his company would not return money donated by followers to publicize the May 21 prediction. "We’re not at the end. Why would we return it?"

This is exactly what the
TrueBibleCode people said, at some point in their more than two hundred failed predictions of NYC's nuking. The nice thing about deriving the date for the End from the Bible is that there are so many ways to do it, you can always find a handy excuse for postponing it when it doesn't happen, and rake in some more dough from the marks.
You were born. And so you're free. So happy birthday.

Just came to post this link to the BBC story:

I know this is old news now but I thought this is funny.
