Jason Lisle: Another sociopath?

A place to talk about specific theists and our interactions with 'em. Should we engage or dismiss? Are there effective strategies?

Jason Lisle: Another sociopath?

Looks like it to me.

I've saved the entire page itself on my desktop, just in case.

Tony = Lisle?

I didn't get to read all of it, but I skimmed it and saw some TAG.

In this comment by Josef on Jason Lisle's blog, he's quite explicit about it.

You do not have an objective moral standard.

For instance: baby-killing is OK if god orders it, is it not? William Lane Craig seems to think so.”

Of course. Whatever God commands is absolutely moral because God himself is the absolute standard for good. In fact, if God really did command to do something, such as kill babies, then it would be immoral not to do it. And on what basis do you have to disagree with this outside of mere opinion?

Uh huh. So taking care of future generations of people has no meaning for this guy? The pain and suffering of the victims of crimes, etc. doesn't concern this guy? It's all "mere opinion" to him?

It'd be funny if this wasn't the shit that xians were teaching their kids.

Pretty much. I didn't actually expect him to explicitly say that if god ordered the killing of babies that it'd then be good by definition.

How can his god be the ultimate standard of goodness when he does stuff that he orders us not to?

My reply.

Wait, what would the best way to respond to TAG be? Would "logic is a human construct based on what we see in the universe" be good enough?

I decided to go back to what the original topic was about.
