Haley, I Am In Hate With You

A place to talk about specific theists and our interactions with 'em. Should we engage or dismiss? Are there effective strategies?

God created us above the animals and God gave us morals and standards. He didn't tell the turtles not to have homosexual sex.

That quote alone is priceless.

Morgaine- I think Godless pretty much nailed it on the head. Sure, post there if it's fun for you- I do a certain amount of creationist baiting too- but don't get down if you don't find an echo there. Christianity has a powerful pull- who wouldn't want to live forever in Heaven? I mean aside from having to tune those goddammed harps.

When I get there I'm going to request a Jew's Harp.

But if you want to praise God with a Jew's Harp, you will have to be like Buffy St. Marie or my friend Albin, who won the International Jew's Harp Competition in Siberia- you will have to sing with the harp, and sing in tune. So you still have to tune something: your voice.

Yep, got 'em, f=man. Doe a deer and row row row.

What's amazing is how well melodies can be identified with even less info- the Parson's Code only requires you to say whether each consecutive note is above, below, or repeating the previous. "Mary had a little lamb" starts "dduurr". There are a number of internet databases of melodies in Parson's Code so you can look up a piece even if you don't know the rhythm or the intervals, just whether it's going up or down.

Now get back to tuning those harps! I don't want no sour notes when I get up to heaven.
