Beamstalk and Froggie's Excellent Adventure

Postby E-lad » Fri Aug 07, 2009 3:38 am

I am here!
I'm in Florence Kaintucky, about ten miles from the Hamseum. I never thought this would happen. Just goes to show ya.
Beamer should be here in an hour or so. I called him when I got here and he was hauling ass through St. Louis and on schedule.
I lost an hour coming through Columbus at rush hour as I 75 funnels into two lanes right in the middle of Columbus and there was an accident. There are some good local talk radio broadcast out of Columbus so the 5 MPH traffic was tolerable. Up in my neck of the woods we get like two local radio stations, one of them a FOX affiliate.

We are meeting up with PZ and the Secular Student Alliance tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM with the tour due to start at 10 AM.
There has been a bit of drama over one Pastor Estes who said he was coming to the tour to engage in some "discussion."
Obviously, most considered that quite inappropriate since it was directed partly at Jennie C. of Blag Hag blog and I personally felt is smelled of stalking. It has been reported that "The media will be there" and "security will be very tight," so if anything remarkable happens you may see us in the news. I'll be the one with the black T-shirt with the rattlesnake on the front, just in case we make national TV. I thought it might be slightly intimidating, without being offensive, hehe.

It will be interesting to see how everything works out. I expect it to be quite anti-climactic because, after all, what group of people understand more than most that their demeanor and behaviour is most important; yup, atheists. So the stage is set and it should be an interesting day. Most importantly, to me is that from now on when some smug Xtian fundy says, Oh yeah, were you there?" when I mention the museum, I can say, "yes, in fact, I was." And I'll have the pictures to prove it.

By the way, I have a feeling that the best part of the tour might be the presentation from noon til one o'clock by Jason Lisle on, "The Ultimate Proof of Creation." This is where it might get a bit dicey. I can't imagine at least one of our group stifling laughter or emitting an audible moan or groan. I sure hope he allows a Q&A.

See ya all tomorrow!

Froggie/ out

The tour is supposed to conclude at 3 PM so I'll post some photos and a short report tomorrow evening.

Ed: Correction: Changed "Abbie" to Jennie C. sorry

Awesome Froggie! I'm really jealous of youse guys :)

Teach the controversy for us, will ya?
"Polymath" means "having learned much"; the correct word for "having failed to learn much" is simply "Ray".

Why does that sound to me like it's the "Final Solution"?

Today is the fateful day.
Thank you all for the great advice.
If you don't hear from us by late this evening send out the hounds. We're each taking a poketful of crackers so watch for the crumb trail.

Beamer finally made it in about midnight and wouldn't ya know it, the bastard was into my beer.
