I read Small Gods (again) on my flight back from the UK - I was amazed at how fast I got through that book, it's one of TP's best I think.

I got some great evolution books for XMAS:

The Descent of Man by Charles Darwin (this is a collectible limited edition one given to me by my son-in-law who had a family member who was an editor of a book club that published this)

Evolution: The First Four Billion Years edited by Michael Ruse and Joseph Travis (Huge compilation of essays and journal articles plus excerpts from important books on evolution).

and

Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why it Matters by Donald Prothero--(Point by point defense against creationism including why the flood story is myth, etc. Transitional fossil info.)

All great books.

Ok, who got what for Christmas?

I was pleasantly surprised that my creationist mother bought me Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin, maybe I'll pass it back to her when I'm done!

I also got Affluenza by Oliver James which looks interesting.

Other than that, this was a pretty slow year for Christmas books, though I did get a $25 voucher for Indigo too, so I'm open to suggestions as to how best to spend that....

I bought and began Your Inner Fish about a year ago and then loaned it to someone else who wanted to read it and they haven't returned it yet. I may have to buy another copy. I thought it was interesting though.

I'm sure he just grabbed the first books he saw when he went to the bookstore five minutes before closing time on Christmas Eve.

Oh, and I also got Alamo - Book 9 of the wonderful collected Preacher comic.

I barely got any books, just one on cryptology which was fairly interesting.

Dad got a stack of them mostly fiction, but including (finally) the god delusion. He also got some pro fundy book, which shows my Mum has a sense of humour.
