Hello, My Friends

Postby rufustfirefly » Wed Mar 10, 2010 8:18 am

I see that some of you were wondering what had happened to me. Well, first, at the beginning of the month my voluntary layoff, which had become less voluntary, ended, and I went back to work. On another note, there was, and still is, some family tragedy to deal with.

At the end of last month, my niece's youngest son, my two year old little nephew, came down with a fever. It got worse. Then it continued to get worse, and he was hospitalized. Things continued to get worse and he was transferred to a larger hospital. His kidneys failed. Then other things began to fail. His liver, then his lungs and heart. By this time he had suffered some major brain damage as well. He died last Wednesday, the third. Other than infection we don't know what the cause was, and even though I'm usually quite clinical, I guess it doesn't matter.

So, I've been working, dealing with this, and spending as much time with my other, seven year old little nephew. Who, by nature of his being born first and my having taking care of him often since his birth, is my favorite. He's really turned to me and I've done every thing I can to help him and I continue to do so. But I did need a little break, some time to myself, so I stayed home today and turned on the computer.

One thing I haven't missed, or even thought about in the last ten days or so, are the kinds of assholes and asshole beliefs and arguments of someplace like Ray Comfort's blog. In fact, if someone were to say to my face right now the kinds of bullshit that they spout trying to justify things like the slaughter of children on the order of their god, I'd end up in jail. They'd end up in an ICU. Otherwise, they are just not worth wasting the time on.

Anyway, I just wanted to check in. Thanks for the Where's Rufus thread, even though it quickly evolved into bad jokes ;). Take care everyone. Best wishes to you all. See ya around.

Rufus,

It must be very difficult to lose someone so young. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
